Academic Curriculum

Language Curriculum:

The school offers a three language curriculum that is skill based. The most important skills of learning a language are LSRW (Listening, reading, speaking, and writing).These skills are incorporated into various activities which are based on the theories expounded above.

Role plays, skits, play readings, debates, discussions, story writing, creating newsletters, brochures and poems form an integral part of the language curriculum.

Math Curriculum:

The school offers a creative and process oriented math curriculum. Application of concepts like number systems, fractions and percentages, graphs and data, geometry, are connected to real life so as to ensure development of critical thinking. Using techniques like visualization, identifying patterns, journal activities, riddles and puzzles, mental math, innovative shortcuts helps students to develop problem solving skills.

Science and Social Science Curriculum:

A scientific temper and a curious mind is what we expect to nurture in our students with the science curriculum. The focus of the curriculum is on skills such as collecting information, handling data, creating hypothesis and experimenting on them. Creating global perspectives based on our heritage and value systems which will help our students to grow up with international ideas and Indian values are the focus of the curriculum. TEACHING METHODOLOGY

XSEED

XSEED is a complete school solution focused on better teaching and improved learning performance. It aims at building clear concepts, improving the fluency in English and superior outcomes. XSEED brings best practices into every classroom so that “All Children Learn Better”.

The XSEED curriculum provides a hands-on approach to students, ensures opportunities for creative expression and develop skills of reflective thinking, observation & experimentation.


Assessment

CONTINUOUS COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT

Assessment is through the year on the basis of not only academics but also commitment, work ethics, understanding and will to learn. Formative and Summative assessments are carried out to assess the students learning and understanding. Internal assessments are based on cumulative record of the students during the continuous assessment in the school. .

Classes I - V

  • Grades are allotted in the Report Cards based on a 5- point scale.
  • Internal Assessment are based on the class assignments/ projects/ activities and other criteria as per the subjects.
  • Grades are also awarded for Computers, III Language, Work experience, Art Education, Performing Arts and Physical and Health Education.

Classes : VI - VII

  • The academic year is divided into two semesters and assessments will be formative and summative as per the CBSE guidelines.
  • Grades will be given on a nine-point scale for scholastic and fro-point scale for Co-scholastic areas.

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) System

Part 1 : Scholastic Areas

  • There will be two terms. The First Term will be from April to September and Second Term from October to March of the subsequent year.
  • Each term will have two Formative and one Summative Assessment.
  • Assessment will be indicated in Grades.
  • The Grading Scale for the Scholastic Areas primary – five point grading scale, upper primary Nine Point Grading Scale.
  • Overall grade of Formative Assessments over the two terms (FA1+FA2+FA3+FA4) and the overall grade of Summative Assessment (SA1+SA2) must be given. The total of the two grades which comprises Formative and Summative needs to be given in the relevant column.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

To ensure that ALL students gain experience, and appreciate ALL the creative and performing arts thereby promoting the acquisition of team spirit and development of individual skills needed for a holistic growth.

General Assembly:

The general assembly is a weekly feature offering varied activities and serves as a stage for students, aspiring to compete at higher levels.

Computer Education:

It aims at making students use the computer both as a productive tool and as a means of creativity and self-expression. The curriculum encompasses technological skills based on themes that are current and meaningful. The program helps children build a solid foundation of fundamental learning skills and prepares them for the fast changing technology of today and the future.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

GSIS offers its students a chance to learn and excel in a wide variety of sporting related activities. These include athletics, football, throw ball, carom, badminton and chess. There is a dedicated time set aside every day in order to pursue these activities.

Importance is given to instill ethical values for harmonious development of the individuality of the students hence the school has made arrangements for extracurricular activities that happens every Saturday at our school campus.

Karate, Archery, yoga, classical dance, and western dance, these activities provide a forum for the growth of students by tapping their creativity, talent and energy into noble and meaningful achievers.

  • Karate :
    Learning the art of self-defense is very essential in today's world. An efficient karate master trains the students courageous, confident, Quick & skillful. The martial arts provide a thrilling experience for the students while also disciplining them. It makes them very active & powerful, both mentally & physically.
            Karate is offered as an option to students of Primary and Secondary classes. Classes are held once a week in the school premises. Currently, over a hundred students are active participants in this.
  • Performing Arts - Indian and Western Music / Dance :
    We provide a variety of musical instruments like keyboard, drums, etc. for the students to play and be able to learn the power of sound and music in their lives. Music calms their mind and the students experience and touch the boundaries of the world. School has especially trained faculty for vocal music .
          The Dance Amphitheatre is a place where children are trained in various forms of Indian and Western dances. Students start learning music and dance movements right from the elementary level.
  • Yoga :
    This fine art teaches students discipline and help in achieving fitness, control and harmony. Advanced meditation & Pranayama are taught to the children to improve concentration. Yoga is a part of the regular timetable.
